Grassy Waters 2021 Summer Camp Update

(August 18, 2021) The Grassy Waters Preserve summer camp program is supported by the Conservancy and Kate Svitek Memorial Foundation. Our summer interns went through an intensive week of training and have worked with approximately 160 campers at five City of West Palm Beach summer camps.
This year the campers could not come to the Preserve, so the interns brought the Preserve to the City campsites. By streaming live virtual field trips, campers experienced the fun and education of swamp tromping and dip netting in the Preserve. The Conservancy provided the technology needed to stream these live virtual experiences from the Preserve to the campsites.
During the eight week program, the interns conducted two in-person visits to each camp site where they engaged the campers in Project Wild activities. In addition to being fun, these activities helped the campers learn about the natural environment and the importance of protecting it.
