CONSERVANCY TEAM VISITS NSU TO REVIEW GRAD STUDENT PROGRESS

On September 25, 2017, the Conservancy education and research team led by Conservancy Vice President Dr. Naomi D’Alessio, visited NOVA Southeastern University to review progress on a water study that is being partially funded by the Conservancy. The Conservancy has provided a grant to Chase Donnelly a NOVA graduate student, who is doing research on the microbial genetics of South Florida waters. Data from Grassy Waters, a remnant of the original Everglades, is being used as the baseline for the study because it is a unique natural wetland. We are pleased to report that Chase is making good progress on his study and the Conservancy is discussing possibly expanding his work.his work.

Chase Donnelly presents some preliminary study results to (L to R) Conservancy members Al Jalowayski, PHD and Yvette Scherer, and Conservancy Vice President Naomi D’Alessio, PHD. Chase’s advisor at NOVA Jose Lopez, PHD is second from the right.
